Hawaiian Airlines DC-3 were damaged during the Pearl Harbor attack, one of them being saved when a second pass of an attacking aircraft hit an fire extinguisher bottle putting out the fire that started in the first pass. The DC-3 continued to fly long into the 60s with the Hawaiian airline, being a perfect fit for the island hops, so much so that later they were fitted with the "viewmaster windows" for scenic flights and were very popular with tourists.
