A new adventure where you will fly a trade route which was founded somewhere 2000 BC. The amber trade started at first from Sicily to Greece, North Africa and Spain. From at least the 16th century BC, amber was moved from Northern Europe to the Mediterranean area. We are going to fly this route.

In Roman times, a main route ran south from the Baltic coast (modern Lithuania), the entire north–south length of modern-day Poland (likely through the Iron Age settlement of Biskupin), through the land of the Boii (modern Czech Republic and Slovakia) to the head of the Adriatic Sea (Aquileia by the modern Gulf of Venice). Other commodities were exported to the Romans along with amber, such as animal fur and skin, honey, and wax, in exchange for Roman glass, brass, gold, and non-ferrous metals such as tin and copper imported into the early Baltic region. As this road was a lucrative trade route connecting the Baltic Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, Roman military fortifications were constructed along the route to protect merchants and traders from Germanic raids.

The trip is made to be flown VFR by following the given directions. You have GPS available but you should prefer not to use it. Following roads, railroads and rivers gives an extra dimension, you see that somewhere along you will connect to the magenta flight plan line of the GPS. I have tested the flight plan with the use of Little NavMap on a second screen.

This mission starts at a local airport just north of St. Petersburg and takes you south to Rome. The trip is 1,729 nautical miles long and covers 21 legs. Most of the comments are not at the waypoints but somewhere along the flight plan path.

The trip is written in English and machine translated to, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish and Swedish.

The trip is made with the aid of Little NavMap and BushTripInjector. Thanks to Alexander Barthel and BuffyGC for creating and maintaining this excellent software.

You find your plane, a Diamond DA 40 NG parked, cold and dark. If a parking space is not available, the aircraft will be parked on the runway. You can change the plane to one of your likings by making use of the MissionChanger by BuffyGC

The following menus are available: ATC, NavLog, VFRMap, Weather and Fuel at airports where it is available. The season is Summer with a preset of a few clouds.

After landing you have to park the plane, preferably on the parking, if there is none, well leave it where you are. But, remember to close the plane down, Master Battery off, Mater Avionics off, Parking Brake set, Engine off. If you omit this the leg will not close.
