Important - Required Library!
Snowflake Lake Airstrip requires that our own Emerald Object Library be installed! Failure to install our free library will result in a 99% broken addon!
Snowflake Lake is an unregistered backcountry airport just 5 NM / 9 KM to the North of Talkeetna, Alaska. Fictionally designated RNSF, Snowflake Lake has a 1500 FT / 457 M long gravel runway, which makes it perfect for a wide class of general aviation and larger twin engine aircraft.
This scenery has been brought to life in incredible detail, with a heavy focus on environmentals. Snowflake Lake uses almost all custom libraries with the integration of our own Emerald Object Library. Some features include: a 2-meter digital elevation model, hand-corrected and color-matched 30cm/px aerial imagery, custom vegetation, 3D trees, and environmentally-dynamic features, such as: Butterflies, Rain Puddles, and Morel Mushrooms!
Features
- 30cm/px aerial imagery.
Hand-corrected and colored to match the surrounding terrain. - 2-meter digital elevation model.
Compatible with ORBX NA Alaska Mesh! - Uneven/sloped runway for that authentic backcountry experience!
Look out for rocks! - Hand-placed, native vegetation.
Weeds, Wildflowers, Shrubs/Bushes, and 3D Trees. Includes LODs for improved performance. - Reworked a large section of nearby marshland.
Cleared out and replanted trees in varying heights and densities.
Environmentally-Dynamic Features
- Butterflies – Visible from May through September. Includes 4 different Alaska native variations!
- Morel Mushrooms – Look for Morel Mushrooms popping up around the airstrip from May through July. But keep a keen eye out, as they can be quite difficult to spot!
- Water Puddles – Only visible when rain is reported in the area.
Installation
The included "esd-airport-rnsf-snowflake-lake" folder should be placed into your MSFS "Packages\Community" folder. The scenery will load the next time you start Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Wish it could be possible to have those gorgeous 3D trees in the Sim by default
3D trees is the one of the XP12 features that I am really jealous about lol

This is fantastic scenery, just like all of your scenery addons here. I'm running Northern Sky Studio's Talkeetna Airport (payware) and when I do upon trying to load into Snowflake Lake MSFS crashes to desktop, no error messages, etc. When I remove the payware version of Talkeetna it no longer crashes... Any idea what might be causing a conflict among the two scenery addons? Unfortunately these days developers have taken it upon themselves to create one massive scenery BGL file making it immposible to disable a certain part of a scenery. Keep up the fantastic work, your bush strips are amazing.

Hmm. I do not own PATK, so unfortunately this is not something I can directly test. Does Northern Sky's PATK scenery add anything up near Snowflake Lake or does it seem to just be the airport? Unfortunately with MSFS, crashes can be caused by so many different and often random things.
What version of MSFS are you running, the stable version or SU10 Beta? And, it's only when spawning at Snowflake Lake, it doesn't happen the other way around either? If you spawn a different aircraft, does it still crash?
Also, the single scenery BGL is because of how the scenery editor works. If you start breaking stuff off, it doesn't all display at the same time in the editor, which makes it harder to ensure everything is coming together how it should. More files were common in FSX/P3D as everything was edited externally, even more so if a configurator was used. Now, the fewer the better, which also helps with performance as it's less calls that the sim needs to make. Not a big deal scenery to scenery, but times that by your number of addons that MSFS needs to mount and it adds up.
