One of the greatest strength of MSFS is the ability we have to go anywhere on Earth but remote areas are often poorly rendered...
To give a little bit of life to some of this interesting but undetailed areas I started to create some real local airstrip in funny places to fly.
The first one is FYMS Geluk airstrip in Namibia near the touristic area of Sossusvlei.
Sossuvlei is a dried ancient lake surrounded by some of the highest red sand dunes in the world. It's a part of the Namib-Naukluft National Park.
The name "Sossusvlei" is of mixed origin and roughly means "dead-end marsh". Vlei is the Afrikaans word for "marsh", while "sossus" is Nama for "no return" or "dead end". Sossusvlei owes this name to the fact that it is an endorheic drainage basin for the ephemeral Tsauchab River.
I detailed the airstrip but also reworked the vegetation around and added some "things to see" such as animals, car parks, campers, etc.
I advice to use the vastly used objects libraries such as Mikeat or Beekay to get all the features.
This is my first attempt to make a custom airfield, so please be indulgent, more airstrips in the area will come soon.
Installation:
Uncompress archive and drop the content in your community folder.
NB:
If you have the Daher kodiak addon you can use this livery by GeeBeeAero: https://fr.flightsim.to/file/25554/daher-kodiak-v5-dgw-namib-safari
Thank you for all these airfields.

Thanks for giving our airstrips some attention 😊 I am a pilot for Wilderness Air and Geluk is one of our airstrips. I can provide you with pictures to make it more realistic, if you would like that. I can also get pictures of the following airstrips in Namibia:
Let me know
P.S - the ICAO code for Geluk is FYGK and there are no elephants in the area (Hoanib has elephants though)

Thank you and Happy new year!
I'm happy to meet someone knowing the area :P
I'm very interested by having pictures and detailed info, because I don't know the place for real, so I get my intel just by satellite imagery and the very few pictures I find on the web... people should stop taking pictures of themselves and take more of local airports :D :D :D
I contact you via PM for email adress. Thanks again.
I don't know yet how to modify default ICAO codes, but I'll try to find.
I was thinking of working on the following nexts airstrips, and will add the ones you suggested.

Great, all those Namibian airstrips you made.
Do you have a personal connection with them? (if I may ask, don't feel obliged to answer, if you don't want it 😉)

Not at all, never been there...
I've always been attracted by bushflying and found a nice but empty place so I decided to learn how to improve it.

This is awesome! You're the man! Is there a way to change the code to FYGK? (Geluk)

I don't know as it's replacing a default airfield, it inherits it's code

The plane is Carenado Cessna C170, and I guess the livery is an included one.
