VERSION 1.0
FREE AND EXCLUSIVE TO FLIGHTSIM.TO (If you find this file elsewhere, let me know).
This airstrip gives another location for those needing a trans-Atlantic rest location before starting the crossing to Greenland, or before heading deeper into North America. There are no facilities here.
In the default scenery, the Cape Hooper airstrip is missing, represented by a grass texture and not a gravel airstrip. This scenery adds the abandoned Cape Hooper airstrip using information from the Canadian Flight Supplement (expired editions), the internet and personal memory. Only default MSFS SDK scenery elements are used.
Scenery includes:
* 3021 x 110 feet gravel airstrip at 58 feet elevation
- Low intensity runway lighting (deactivated in reality)
- Threshold end lighting (deactivated in reality)
- Windsocks at each end of the runway (not maintained in reality, location unknown)
- Apron
- Refueler (not functional in reality)
* vehicles at various locations on the roads around the site.
* removal of most trees from the area. (There are none in reality on Baffin Island).
Improvements to come:
* improved runway markers.
* replacing upper site buildings with better representations.
* adding the currently active upper site helipad.
* adding shipping in Davis Strait.
* changing textures to better represent the high arctic tundra vegetation of the area.
* removal of more trees on the surround landscape.
* addition of Points of Interest (POIs) identifying nearby features.
Location details of the airstrip:
* ICAO: CYUZ
* IATA: YUZ
* Airstrip (Lower site) location: 66-27-43 N, 66-50-42 W (68.462037, -66.844889)
