CYDP Nain, Labrador, Canada scenery modification for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
VERSION 1.1 - August 2021
FREE AND EXCLUSIVE TO FLIGHTSIM.TO (If you find this file elsewhere, let me know).
In the default scenery, Nain airstrip is missing, represented by a grass texture and not a gravel airstrip. This scenery adds the operational Nain airstrip using information from the Canadian Flight Supplement (expired editions), the internet and personal memory. Only default MSFS SDK scenery elements are used.
Changes in Version 1.1
* Removal of conflicting Points of Interest (POIs) with my CVB2-Voisey's Bay scenery available on Flightsim.to
* Addition of vegetation along the slope above the runway.
* Addition of street lights, poles and stop signs.
* Addition of fuel tank at the harbour.
* Addition of a fishing boat.
* Addition of three antennas.
NOTE: This scenery works well with my other Labrador sceneries available at Flightsim.to:
CYSV - Saglek which is to the north of Nain.
CVB2 - Voisey's Bay which is just to the southwest of Nain.
CNH2 - Natuashish which is to the southeast of Nain.
Scenery includes:
* 2000 x 75 feet gravel airstrip at 22 feet elevation
- Runway end identification lights
- Windsocks at each end of the runway
- Apron
- Refueler
- Air terminal building
- Cones marking the runway as in reality
* Vehicles at various locations on the roads around the area.
* Removal of some trees from the area. (There are sparse small trees along this part of the Labrador coast in reality).
* Ship and boats in the harbour area.
Improvements to come:
* Adding more shipping in the area.
* Changing textures to better represent the sparse vegetation of the area.
* removal of more trees on the surround landscape.
* addition of Points of Interest (POIs) identifying nearby features to the north.
Location details of the airstrip:
* ICAO: CYDP
* IATA: YDP
* Airstrip location: 56-32-57 N, 61-40-49 W (56.549167, -61.680278)
History:
Nain is located on the Labrador coast. It is the most northern permanently settled Inuit community in Labrador. There are around 1200 residents. It was first settled in 1771 by Moravian missionaries.
This airstrip gives another location for those needing a landing point while traveling the Labrador coast heading north or before turning inland toward Quebec. Be careful due to the high terrain surrounding the airstrip. Also the airstrip is quite short and very close to the water.
Installation:
Place the folder in your community folder and enjoy - the airstrip is starred and located off the eastern coast of Baffin Island
I hope you enjoy the updated area!

A complimentary scenery to CYDP-Nain has been released. Voisey's Bay is just to the south-southwest of Nain:

There is some duplications on POIs which I will remove in the next version of CYDP-Nain.
