Swartkops Power Station can be located on the Grahamstown Road, 11 kilometres north of the city of Port Elizabeth. It was to have been one of Escom’s first post-war power stations but as it turned out, did not end up as such. Instead it became a municipal power station that would operate between 1954 and 1996.The Power Station is now decomissioned and used as storage space. The power Station also forms part of a city skyline from the Swartkops Estuary.
